Vision
Karamat college, an institution with a noble mission of educating the girls of the society, aims at the all around development of the students. The person with such a noble and virtuous mission in his mind was Justice Sayyad Karamat Husain, the founder of Karamat College.
The college is run by an association called Anjuman Talimul Muslimat-e-Hind. The vision of the Anjuman is to advance the cause of education amongst women especially the purdah observing girls of Muslim community. It extends this vision to impart quality education to women of all faiths and communities, more precisely the minorities.
Mission
The mission of the college is reflected in it’s logo “TALIBUL ILM-E-FARIZA”. This is saying from the Holy Hadith and it means ‘Acquisition of Knowledge is Obligatory’. Thus the Anjuman has developed the college in to a centre of excellence which imparts quality education to its women students. It aim at developing an integrated personality to empower its students with skills which will enable them to become global leaders who can lead change across the nation and the world.
This institution strives to impart higher education to female students and to inculcate in them a strong, intelligent, moral, cultural spiritual attitude and ideals thus aiming at overall personality development and in the process helping evolve students into responsible citizens.
Objectives
• To educate the Muslim women of India and to extend this service to women from other communities also.
• To promote and provide opportunities for academic excellence by developing critical thinking and adding new perspectives to the world of knowledge.
• To promote students ‘integrated spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development.
• To instill confidence and a sense of self reliance and self esteem among the students.
• To develop an ability to use knowledge to transform lives.
• To empower students by preparing them for the challenges and complexities of life in the twenty first century based on a strong value system.
The campus of the college is spread over 13.123 acres of land. It houses the administrative blocks, the academic blocks, well-equipped science laboratories, an auditorium, a gymnasium, library with a reading room, a canteen, a pavilion with a seating capacity of about 1,500 students, NSS room, placement centre, a girls’ room and a vast playfield which accommodates the Annual Sports events and various inter-college sports tournaments.
This is the only college in the city that has a complete hockey ground and conducts hockey tournaments annually. It also has the honour of providing State and National level hockey players at All India Nehru Hockey Tournaments held at Delhi every year. The sports authority of India (SAI) has also declared the college as its centre. At the centre girl students are selected to undergo hockey training in a professional environment created by the college which has a long history of encouraging hockey as a sports activity for girls.
